Lace Monitors Environment
The Lace Monitor is a native Australian Reptile that is found in forests, woodlands, coastal plains of eastern Australian, Murray River system and the Finders Ranges. In the eastern forests where the Lace Monitor lives, the temperature can reach 28°C in summer and 3°C in the winter. The average annual rainfall is 1,100 to 1,400mm and more in coastal forests as its 1,200mm to 1,600mm. These forests are mainly made up of eucalyptus trees, small cliffs, gorges with vegetation and sandy areas on the coast. The abundance of trees help the Lace Monitor survive as they use them as protection. In the eastern Australian temperate woodlands the temperature is hottest in the summer, averaging 29°C and in the winter the average is 2.9°C. The average annual rainfall in this region is 250-800mm. Woodlands are regions that have fewer or more scattered trees than forests. The woodlands have two main species of tree, eucalyptus and wattle.
